During these summer months, Craig's bike rides run the river route on the Delta. Into Clarksburg, 5 miles outside of Sacramento, you will find wineries and breezy Delta living. Lucky for me, Craig has discovered a couple of Black Mission Fig trees and has come home with figs in hand. We aren't sure if they are technically on someone's property...but I think the only crime we would be guilty of is allowing those figs to die on the tree, never to be enjoyed....

I have never eaten a fig, except in the dried state... What's it taste like?
oh yum! I love fresh figs so much! And to get them from a tree--sounds excellent!
We gobble up so many figs this time of year it would make Eve blush....I love them so much....We had a fig tree in our yard when I was a kid....mmmmmmm - mmmmm I love em. I have so many fig stories - like the tree I climbed in the south of france to get some of the biggest sweetest figs ever when I was 21...
Buff: when they are super ripe they are just like home made jam..they are so nectar sweet...they are NOTHING AT ALL like a dried fig.
I love Clarksburg. I used to have a fig tree too when we lived in Natomas & Meg was a baby. They are delicious & there are so many fun ways to use them. R u doing anything extra special with them? or just mowwing them in the natural glory? ;) Happy Hump day Michelle! Hugs

Like buffalodickydy, I've only ever had figs dried (or in a cookie). I'm not quite sure how to eat a fresh fig or if you eat all of it. The skin looks icky, so I would assume you don't eat that part. Educate us Michelle!!
